Announcing the Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center & a Brand New Betsy
The Pediatric Center of the New York Foundling, under the sponsorship of the Sisters of Charity, is proud to announce that, as of March 8, 2005, we will be known as the Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center. In order to better define ourselves as a healthcare center and distinguish our mission from the social services initiatives from that of our sister organization, the New York Foundling, we have chosen to take the name of the foundress of the Sisters of Charity, a native New Yorker and the 1st American-born woman to be canonized. Along with our new name comes the unveiling of our new logo, Betsy the Caterpillar, named after Elizabeth's childhood moniker. Betsy symbolizes progress through small steps as we work, changing lives, one child at a time.
About The Center
The Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center is a faith-based, not-for-profit, nursing facility that provides long and short-term pediatric, rehabilitative and palliative care to 136 children from the New York metropolitan area. Founded by the Sisters of Charity in 1869 and formerly part of the New York Foundling, the Center cares for and provides irreplaceable services to the New York metropolitan community’s most vulnerable, physically and neurologically challenged children. One of only four such facilities in New York State, we care for infants as young as 2 weeks old, children and adolescents up to the age of 21. The easiest way to describe us is that we are a Nursing Home for children.
Our Mission
In the tradition of St. Elizabeth Seton, we cherish all children and believe in the healing power of loving relationships. As a center of pediatric, rehabilitative, and palliative care, we are inspired by her legacy as we join with families in the holistic care of their children.
The Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center is proud to build upon the legacy of the New York Foundling, a true New York institution, as we take the next step in our own organization’s history.
