Young Friends Present Inaugural Event, An Evening of Art and Cocktails
Newly Established Young Friends of the Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center Host First Fundraising Event for NYC Young Professionals
New York City, NY, August 30, 2005.
The Young Friends of the Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center present their inaugural fundraising event, An Evening of Art and Cocktails, at the Salander-O'Reilly Galleries on Thursday, November 10, 2005.
Over 200 NYC young professionals will enjoy cocktails and hors d'oeuvres while browsing Old Master paintings and Renaissance sculpture in the newly opened Salander-O'Reilly Galleries, which occupy the entire Beaux-Arts style Cass Gilbert mansion at 22 East 71st Street between Madison and Fifth Avenues. Guests will have the opportunity to bid on Silent Auction items, proceeds from which will fund initiatives aimed to enrich the lives of the Pediatric Center's children.
"We are extremely excited about the energy and enthusiasm that the Young Friends bring to Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center," commented Executive Director, Patricia Tursi. "This first event is just the start of a great relationship between NYC's young professionals and the children of Elizabeth Seton."
The Young Friends was recently established to drive awareness and support of the Pediatric Center among young professionals in NYC. Established in 1988 by the Sisters of Charity as an affiliate program of the New York Foundling, today the Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center is an independent nonprofit corporation with its own distinct mission and leadership.
The Pediatric Center has evolved into a comprehensive 136 bed acute rehabilitation resident facility caring for 250 children annually, from birth to age 21, with a wide range of severe disabilities and complex medical conditions including cerebral palsy, premature birth, congenital heart disease, chromosome, metabolic & respiratory disorders, genetic syndromes, muscular and neurological diseases, HIV/AIDS, traumatic brain injury, among others. Some children stay at the Center for a few weeks of rehabilitation following surgery, whereas the majority with special needs are long-term residents.
