Welcome Letter

At the Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center, we realize that shaping leadership and the ultimate standard of patient care can be particularly challenging in today’s complex healthcare climate. We are pleased to have risen to the occasion—with staunch enthusiasm, keen vision and so much more. Perhaps it is because the courage to face resistance and surpass barriers is so ingrained in us. It began with our namesake, St. Elizabeth Seton, whose life course mirrors the challenges faced by our children and their families.

The compassionate legacy of St. Elizabeth Seton, our sponsorship by the Sisters of  Charity, and our longstanding affiliation with New York Foundling all represent sources of pride, and the strength behind our daily efforts. Living our mission each day requires an extraordinary balance of joys with struggles, as we help each child reach a new milestone, however large or small it may be. Along the journey, our staff demonstrates an unwavering belief that all children—regardless of their level of ability—possess unique needs, gifts and personalities.

Across all of our services, we place the child and his or her family at the center of each care decision. This philosophy of holistic child-centered or child-first care is what we call our Continuous Learning Experience—a customized leadership training effort that teaches all staff how to integrate care with the essential elements of childhood.

Consequently, the Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center and staff have earned numerous accolades and statewide recognition for our model of care, including a 2005 “Innovation of the Year” award from a professional healthcare association. But it is actually our children who reward us the most—by responding to our approach to care as they learn, play and grow in ways that were not always imagined to be possible. Childhood must be magical for children, and at the Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center, childhood is magical for every person who shares life with our children.

At the Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center, each day is filled with possibilities, and not just for the children. Our staff and professionals everywhere, embrace the idea of learning, growing and exploring new paths.

Enjoy the journey!
